In May 2009, Eide Industries installed two
tensioned membrane covers over separate
wave-like frame structures for the City of
Long Beach Transit Center in Southern
California. Sheerfill V PTFE material by Saint
Gobain was used on both the large double-mast
frame, which required nearly 1,200 square feet
of fabric, and the smaller single-mast canopy
with 800 square feet of coverage area. The
continuous curves and changing shape of the
framework and support cabling, built by All West
Iron, Inc., demanded Eide's focus throughout the
fabrication, patterning and installation of the
project. Some fabric seams were heat sealed
onsite to finish the fabric installment around
the support posts and cabling. The client was
very satisfied with the on time, within budget
and successful completion of their new downtown
landmark. |
