Rasmussen BMW Dealership - Portland, OR

The Rasmussen BMW Dealership in Portland, Oregon wanted an eye-catching tension structure cover for the Service Department on the top level of their parking structure. Eide Industries, Inc. fabricated and installed the 100-foot by 150-foot tension structure, designed by KPFF Architects, on a central mast with 1.75-inch stainless steel cabling to the building.

To meet the local Building Department engineering requirements of 80MPH wind loads and 25lbs per s/f snow loads, Eide used Ferrari 392 as the primary fabric cover, with corner and edge reinforcements of RF sealed Ferrari 1502.

Aligned with the ridge cables, the 3-foot wide “snow belts” of Ferrari 1502 were added giving additional fabric supports for Portland’s occasional snowfall. The “snow belts” were edged with 4-inch 20,000 pound webbing tensioned with load compatible ratchet buckles.
